Toys n Joys in Hawaii
My wife and I lived on Oahu for a couple of years while she got her Masters degree at the University of Hawaii. Though Toys n Joys was on the other side of the island in a small storefront, it was always a regular stop for window shopping and the occasional purchase of a toy or video game from Japan.
Now Toys n Joys has moved out of their tiny digs and into a (relatively) massive 5500 square foot store and they're apparently doing quite well. Dig this article in Hawaii Business Magazine for a taste of fandom Hawaii-style.

Was that the place over on the way to Kahala Mall?
I had a recent bad experience ordering through Toys n Joys website. I ordered a present for a friend's brithday, and got rush delivery so I could get it on time. The weeks passed, and I heard no word from them. I finally e-mailed them after 2 weeks of silence, and they said they were shipping it out that week. Then, the next day, I get an e-mail from them saying they're sold out of the item in question, and I had to wait a week or two until it would come in. I thought it was somewhat unprofessional to say "it's being shipped", then just one day later, say "it'll be a week or two".
They promised they would e-mail me when it was being shipped out, but they never did. This past Wednesday, the item finally came without warning...Over a full month after I ordered it. Oh well, at least the present was a hit, but I'm going to be kind of cautious about ordering them from the future.
ordered a birthday present at the beginning of april. i have heard nothing back i have emailed them twice no emails received back. unsure if i would use in future. would really like birthday present to turn up, wouldnt mind as much as long as there was contact
