As you can see, Beuna Vista cropped Kiki's when they brought it to tape. Howver, because the original movie was at a fairly shallow aspect ratio (1.75:1), the loss at the side is not as extreme as in some of our other examples. And the full-screen version allows you to see the details of the beautifully painted backgrounds better.
In any case, there is a rumor that BVHV will be releasing a widesreen version of the film to video sometime in 1999.
